Paris Street Style at Akris SS 2014

A few gems I was able to get on a cloudy day outside of the Grand Palais. I love this city and all the glorious fashion that comes with it. These photos are a mix of bloggers and of course the people invited to the show.

Day 1 of #NYFW

New York Fashion Week kicked off fairly typical. So far only one major hiccup, People's Revolution pulled out last minute on David Tlale's show on Sept 6th. Kelly Cutrone's company announced their departure because they were not being paid (racked). Note to anyone who hires any public relations company - they do not work for free!

Nicholas K's collection was probably my favorite through day one, it is full of perfectly draped pieces and screams casual boho-chic. The thick headbands is interesting for Spring, but none the less a great look when your hair is parted down the middle.

As for the rest of the shows, there were hints of strong (highlighter) yellows, a few light pastels and a lot of great black accents. Whether it be a little leather panel, lace trimming or a strappy heels, black accents are everything this spring.

Let Day 2 begin! Personally I am looking forward to Rebecca Minkoff and of course viewing all the tweets from the Project Runway show.

Hashtag New York Fashion Week

Beauty shot from WWD

I don't know if it is the mere fact that #NYFW has taken over the twitter world, or if it is the constant live streaming of shows, but New York Fashion Week got me good this year. I am obsessed with constantly checking the shows, leading me to find even more designers I did not know existed. It is killing me that I will be occupied for a good 8 hours tomorrow for a photo shoot - meaning I cannot just sit with my macbook and love life. Today was an interesting day in the world of fashion for me as one of my favorites - Prabal Gurung - took to the runway and stole my heart, yet again. Military style, neutral palette, sex appeal and I was sold. Chunky knits, leather accents and killer shoes were all an added bonus. Then I get told that one of my classmates here in Toronto flew down to NY to walk in Alexander Wang's show (check out last photo), so excited for her! New York Fashion Week has just begun already I am hooked. xxx

#nyfw begins!

Nothing like New York Fashion Week to get you back in the blogging mode. This time I am back for good... anyways back to what is important, the FW 2013 collections!

February brings the Fall/Winter collections, and no doubt I woke up early on my day off to check it out. Nicholas K was my favorite this morning, the sibling duo brought oversized coats, draping, capes and some petite leather details. The goggle/glasses was the perfect touch, although very different from the large rounded glasses from their spring collection. The palette was packed with neutrals, charcoal, navy blues and with a forest green cape to die for. Oversized to perfection and a few capes are definitely going to be a trend this Fall & I am a-okay with that.  Here are just a few of my favorite looks from Nicholas K this morning:

cue the green cape.
a little cape obsessed.
loving the hoods.

Then BCBGMAXAZRIA hit the runway, and I was aw-struct by this gorgeous ensemble below. I am typically not a fur kind of girl, but the flow of this is absolutely impeccable in my eyes. From the beanie all the way to the high slitted white maxi, I am smitten.

Many thanks to Mercedes-Benz for making ever single show in the Lincoln Centre live during New York Fashion Week! I have been watching the shows all day and I will continue to do so for the next week. The come at the runway from a couple different angles, even zooming up close so those of us not lucky enough to attend can check out the small details too!

Adrian Wu SS13

I've had the pleasure of seeing the last three collections by Adrian Wu, and I must say, it is addicting. It is not often you come across a young Canadian designer who is eccentric, whimsical, and daring on all ends. His Spring 2013 collection is definitely pushing limits, with the main material being polyurethane foam, in fascinating shapes. It was beautiful, there was a pianist with a singer, staged in the middle of the runway; they played the classics 'Moon River' and 'Cry Me a River.' The hair and make up was a definite 1950's vibe, with glasses to match. These are some snaps I got from the show xxx

Obsession: This Photo

graziadaily.co.uk

As I battle the same fight every year, balancing the first few weeks of school, and fashion week, I find myself flustered. I enjoy spending time looking through all of the new collections, but I have only just started looking at the collections in Milan, as the world heads to Paris. I have been so exhausted lately between seven classes at Humber College and my night class at Ryerson, that by the time I get home, I completely forget to take OOTD photos.

I am going to get back to my regular blogging self this week! I haven't posted much lately because I refuse to post something I just 'post to have more posts.' But this photo has been my obsession since New York Fashion Week, so I thought I would share. xxx

Dresses To Die For

Elie Saab is nothing short of a genius when it comes to designing dresses for the female form. From lace to chiffon it is near impossible to not dream of owning a piece from any of his brilliant collections. This Lebanese designer stayed within a simple color palette, with black, nude, rose and sky blue being the base colors behind this Couture collection. The embroidery and the details in each and every dress is what makes each piece its own. Perhaps some say he didn't "take any creative leap," but really... he doesn't need to and the proof is right here.

Flashback Obsession: Balmain FW 12

I could look at this collection, over and over again. It is detailed to perfection.
