Sarah Burton: Designer of 2011

Style.com recently said that their voters deemed Sarah Burton as their voted favorite designer of the year, and I would have to say I agree. For a woman who had such huge shoes to fill, she has most certainly done the McQueen name justice. "She isn't channeling the McQueen DNA, she is the McQueen DNA." Tim Blanks from style.com wrote that back in March after her show at the La Conciergerie, and it is a true quote ill never forget. The rumors flooded for months as to who would design the dress for the Royal Wedding, and it was no surprise when the nude flats were spotted sneaking into Kate Middleton's Hotel. To top her year off, she took home the award for Designer of the Year at the British Fashion Awards, one well deserved. Burton is proving to make her own mark on the fashion industry, and not just falling under the name of McQueen but going above and beyond the unlimited expectations.
